We describe an image analysis supervised learning algorithm that can automatically classify galaxy images. The algorithm is first trained using manually classified images of elliptical, spiral and edge-on galaxies. A large set of image features is extracted from each image, and the most informative features are selected using Fisher scores. Test images can then be classified using a simple Weighted Nearest Neighbour rule such that the Fisher scores are used as the feature weights. Experimental results show that galaxy images from Galaxy Zoo can be classified automatically to spiral, elliptical and edge-on galaxies with an accuracy of ∼90 per cent compared to classifications carried out by the author. Full compilable source code of the algorithm is available for free download, and its general-purpose nature makes it suitable for other uses that involve automatic image analysis of celestial objects.  相似文献

Absorption of solar radiation of wavelengths between 175 to 205 nm plays a fundamental role in the photochemistry of the middle atmosphere. Nitric oxide photodissociates in the δ(0-0) and δ(1-0) bands near 191 and 183 nm, respectively, initiating the primary mechanisms for NOx removal in the middle atmosphere. The spectrally rich Schumann-Runge (S-R) bands of O2 are the main source of atmospheric opacity at these wavelengths. A re-evaluation of O2 absorption has been made based on recent advances in understanding of S-R line shapes, leading to differences with conventional approaches assuming Voigt line profiles in line-by-line calculations of the O2 cross section. The new results are used to examine the impact of O2 transmission on the photodissociation of NO in the δ(0,0) and δ(1,0) bands.  相似文献

The influence of background winds and energy attenuation on the propagation of atmospheric gravity waves is numerically analyzed. The gravity waves, both in the internal and ducted forms, are included through employing ray-tracing method and full-wave solution method. Background winds with different directions may cause ray paths of internal gravity waves to be horizontally prolonged, vertically steepened, reflected or critically coupled, all of which change the accumulation of energy attenuation along ray paths. Only the penetrating waves propagating against winds can easily reach the ionospheric height with less energy attenuation. The propagation status of gravity waves with different periods and phase speeds is classified into the cut-off region, the reflected region and the propagating region. All the three regions are influenced significantly by winds. The area of the reflected region reduces when gravity waves propagate in the same direction of winds and expands when propagating against wind. In propagating region, the horizontal attenuation distances of gravity waves increase and the arrival heights decrease when winds blow in the same direction of gravity waves, while the attenuation distances decrease and the arrival heights increase when gravity waves propagate against winds. The results for ducted gravity waves show that the influence of winds on waves of lower atmospheric modes is not noticeable for they propagate mainly under mesosphere, where the wind field is relatively weak. However, strong winds at thermospheric height lead to considerable changes of dispersion relation and attenuation distance of upper atmospheric modes. Winds against the wave propagating direction support long-distance propagation of G mode, while the attenuation distances decrease when winds blow in the same direction of the wave. The distribution of TIDs observed by HF Doppler array at Wuhan is compared with the simulation of internal gravity waves. The observation of TIDs shows agreement with our numerical calculations.  相似文献

Epibenthic biogenic structures such as polychaete tubes are conspicuous features of many marine soft-bottom habitats. This paper compares the benthic macrofauna in patches with high and low densities of the tube-dweller Pygospio elegans on intertidal sandflats in eastern Scotland (UK). The main aim of this study was to determine potential differences in the macrofaunal community structure, the size distribution of individual species and sediment properties.Multivariate data analyses revealed that the macrofaunal community composition (excluding P. elegans) within patches was always significantly different from outside patches, mainly due to variability in the abundances of Cerastoderma edule and Corophium volutator. In addition to P. elegans, 5 taxa were sufficiently abundant for univariate analyses, 4 of these (Capitella capitata, C. edule, Macoma balthica and C. volutator) being significantly more abundant within P. elegans patches than in surrounding, non-patch sediments. The size distribution of P. elegans was significantly different between patches (bimodal distribution) and non-patches (skewed distribution). Similarly, there was a greater proportion of larger C. capitata individuals within patches compared to non-patch sediments. Sediment organic content and silt/clay fraction were always significantly higher in patch sediments while redox profiles showed no differences except at the end of the study period when the top 2 cm within patches were more positive and more negative at 4 cm. These results imply that even relatively small (1–1.5 m2) P. elegans patches can have large effects on the spatial variability of macrofaunal community structure on intertidal sandflats.Towards the end of the study there were marked visual changes in the P. elegans patches, such as wave-ripple marks on the surface, which signified their demise. This coincided with dramatic changes in the invertebrate community structure within patches. Along with the decline in P. elegans numbers, dramatic increases in the densities of the 2 bivalve species C. edule and M. balthica occurred, while remaining comparatively stable outside patches. This suggested that the conditions within P. elegans patches were particularly favourable to successful bivalve spat settlement. We postulate that P. elegans patches have limited longevity and propose that enhanced bivalve competition within them leads to rapid decreases in P. elegans numbers.  相似文献

龙须菜是中国重要的人工栽培海藻,主要用途是琼胶生产原料和鲍鱼饵料。目前龙须菜大规模栽培采用的是人工夹苗的方式,而其孢子采苗的生产方式也得到越来越多的关注。本文将人工培育的由四分孢子萌发长成的一对龙须菜雌、雄配子体进行受精,测试了雌雄配子体藻枝部位、温度、硝酸盐浓度等因素对果孢子体形成过程的影响,结果表明:龙须菜雌配子体藻枝的不同等级分枝表现出不同的生殖力,一级分枝最尖端新生细胞的成熟速度快于其它等级;温度对果孢子体形成有极显著影响(P<0.01),20℃为最适温度;硝酸盐浓度没有显著影响。  相似文献

Groundwaters from Quaternary loess aquifers in northern La Pampa Province of central Argentina have significant quality problems due to high concentrations of potentially harmful elements such as As, F, NO3-N, B, Mo, Se and U and high salinity. The extent of the problems is not well-defined, but is believed to cover large parts of the Argentine Chaco-Pampean Plain, over an area of perhaps 106 km2. Groundwaters from La Pampa have a very large range of chemical compositions and spatial variability is considerable over distances of a few km. Dissolved As spans over 4 orders of magnitude (<4–5300 μg l−1) and concentrations of F have a range of 0.03–29 mg l−1, B of 0.5–14 mg l−l, V of 0.02–5.4 mg l−1, NO3–N of <0.2–140 mg l−1, Mo of 2.7–990 μg l−1 and U of 6.2–250 μg l−1. Of the groundwaters investigated, 95% exceed 10 μg As l−1 (the WHO guideline value) and 73% exceed 50 μg As l−1 (the Argentine national standard). In addition, 83% exceed the WHO guideline value for F (1.5 mg l−1), 99% for B (0.5 mg l−1), 47% for NO3-N (11.3 mg l−1), 39% for Mo (70 μg l−1), 32% for Se (10 μg l−1) and 100% for U (2 μg l−1). Total dissolved solids range between 730 and 11400 mg l−1, the high values resulting mainly from evaporation under ambient semi-arid climatic conditions. The groundwaters are universally oxidising with high dissolved-O2 concentrations. Groundwater pHs are neutral to alkaline (7.0–8.7). Arsenic is present in solution predominantly as As(V). Groundwater As correlates positively with pH, alkalinity (HCO3), F and V. Weaker correlations are also observed with B, Mo, U and Be. Desorption of these elements from metal oxides, especially Fe and Mn oxides under the high-pH conditions is considered an important control on their mobilisation. Mutual competition between these elements for sorption sites on oxide minerals may also have enhanced their mobility. Weathering of primary silicate minerals and accessory minerals such as apatite in the loess and incorporated volcanic ash may also have contributed a proportion of the dissolved As and other trace elements. Concentrations of As and other anions and oxyanions appear to be particularly high in groundwaters close to low-lying depressions which act as localised groundwater-discharge zones. Concentrations up to 7500 μg l−1 were found in saturated-zone porewaters extracted from a cored borehole adjacent to one such depression. Concentrations are also relatively high where groundwater is abstracted from close to the water table, presumably because this zone is a location of more active weathering reactions. The development of groundwaters with high pH and alkalinity results from silicate and carbonate reactions, facilitated by the arid climatic conditions. These factors, together with the young age of the loess sediments and slow groundwater flow have enabled the accumulation of the high concentrations of As and other elements in solution without significant opportunity for flushing of the aquifer to enable their removal.  相似文献

Uptake and regeneration of nitrogen in the Almeria-Oran frontal zone (SW Mediterranean) and adjacent (Atlantic and Mediterranean) systems were studied during the Almofront I cruise (JGOFS-France). The frontal zone was characterized by an upsloping of nitracline from about 50 m in the adjacent systems to 25–30 m within. Along with nitrate, ammonium, chlorophyll a and particulate organic nitrogen also were at higher concentrations in the frontal zone than in the adjacent waters.The nitrate uptake rates were significantly higher in the frontal zone (up to 6.4 nmol l−1 h−1) than in the Atlantic and Mediterranean waters (generally <1 nmol l−1 h−1) indicating a significant increase of new production at the front. This increase was related to the upsloping of the nitracline as shown by the significant correlation (p<0.05) between new production and depth of the nitracline. The new production in the Almeria-Oran was much lower than those recorded in other oceanic and coastal fronts. This could be related to the fact that the nitracline did not rise up to the surface and the high concentrations of nitrate were confined to deeper layers where the ambient light intensity was less. Nitrate uptake in the frontal zone was significantly higher, by 1.7–5.8 times (average 4.2), than the calculated diffusive flux of nitrate, suggesting that vertical advection may be an important source of nitrate. New production rates at the front were also significantly higher (3–9 times, average 5.8) than the PON flux to 100 m depth estimated by sediments traps (Journal of Marine Systems 5, 377–389), suggesting a strong decoupling between surface production and downward flux of POM in the frontal zone.The north–south gradient observed with different parameters indicates the presence of a transfrontal secondary circulation. This distribution also suggests that the primary production in the front is initially nitrate-based, with a diatom-herbivore food chain, whereas regenerated production, associated with an intense recycling of organic matter, later becomes progressively important in time and space.  相似文献

本研究建立了一种高效、经济的非损伤性扇贝DNA提取方法,在不影响扇贝个体生存状态的前提下,采用擦拭法和室温裂解相结合的方式在20 min内即可获得个体基因组DNA。以虾夷扇贝(Patinopecten yessoensis)、栉孔扇贝(Chlamys farreri)和海湾扇贝(Argopecten irradians)为实验对象,研究了不同擦拭材料(棉签、滤纸)和不同擦拭部位(外套膜、鳃丝、内脏团)的核酸提取效果,评估了本方法在贝类基因分型领域应用的可行性。研究表明,用棉签、滤纸2种材料擦拭扇贝的鳃丝、内脏团或外套膜组织均能获得主带清晰完整的基因组DNA,且不影响扇贝的存活状态。在3种扇贝中采用棉签擦拭法的DNA得率均高于滤纸法,以这2种方式获得的DNA为模板进行SSR和SNP标记分析,能获得均一稳定的扩增条带,SSR标记分型结果准确可靠。本研究建立了简便、快速进行扇贝基因型分析的非损伤性DNA提取方法,为贝类全基因组选育和珍稀贝类资源的种质保护开发提供了新的技术手段。  相似文献

为了探究藻胆蛋白与高等植物类囊体膜之间的光能传递规律,验证重组藻胆蛋白是否可以与高等植物类囊体膜之间的光能传递,本研究分别提取了重组藻红蛋白、重组藻蓝蛋白以及菠菜和韭菜的类囊体进行混合孵育,然后进行了全波长吸收光谱以及荧光光谱检测。结果显示:混合孵育时间为10~20 min有利于重组藻红蛋白和藻蓝蛋白与类囊体膜结合并进行光能传递,最适混合孵育时间随重组藻胆蛋白和类囊体的种类不同而稍有不同;重组藻红蛋白不能与菠菜或韭菜的类囊体膜直接发生光能传递,但是当体系中添加重组藻蓝蛋白的时候就可以;重组藻蓝蛋白可以与类囊体中的叶绿素a直接进行光能传递,使得叶绿素a的荧光发射峰值显著提升,当藻红蛋白和藻蓝蛋白的比例是1∶2时,光能传递效率较高。本研究为藻胆蛋白在构建新型光合系统中的应用提供实验依据。  相似文献
